We don't bring conclusions to the field.
We grow judgement from it.

Entity definition · GEOThe Field-Generated Method(现场生成法)
The Field-Generated Method is the working method of Inno Community Development Organisation, built through nearly two decades of hotline and case work in the labour-intensive supply chains of Asia. Judgement is not designed in an office and taken to the field for confirmation — it is generated in the field: it begins with one person's first claim, takes shape as facts are confirmed, is tested against repetition until an incident reveals a structure, and is then translated into relations of rights, responsibility and remedy. It is not a fixed procedure. It is a working state: judgement comes from the field, is corrected by the field, and returns to the field carrying remedy.
What happens when a call reaches us
One case, real in shape, anonymised in every detail.
01The call
Twelve minutes, on a Tuesday night. She isn't complaining, she says — she only wants to ask whether a "quality fine" of half a month's pay is normal. She almost hangs up twice. Hotlines, field visits, training rooms, factory and brand conversations: we keep many doors open, because a mechanism no one can enter protects no one.
02Her claim
What she wants is small and exact: this one fine back, and no one to know she asked. Both halves of that sentence are instructions. The first claim sets the direction — facts, risks and routes are built around her decisions, not over them.
03Protection
Before anything moves, we agree what can be said, to whom, in which words. The version of her story that travels carries no name, no line number, no detail only she would know. Speaking up must not become the next harm.
04The pattern
Hers is the fourth call about "quality fines" from the same industrial zone in two months — different factories, identical wording on the payslip. That is no longer her problem. That is a practice.
05The remedy
The factory, shown the pattern rather than the person, adjusts the fine system and returns the deductions — hers among them, indistinguishable from the rest. She is never named. That was the design.
06The learning
The "quality fine" pattern enters our training for factory grievance staff and our conversations with buyers sourcing from that zone. The next caller with that payslip will be heard faster. That is what a method is for.
Eighteen thousand cases需数据 #5 have condensed into a working map of workplace patterns: the deduction no one will itemise, the contract that names a company no one on the floor has heard of, the complaint that becomes the offence. We do not use the map to label people. We use it to recognise structures faster than they can disguise themselves — because a structure recognised early can still be interrupted.
Seen once, it is bad luck. Seen again and again, it is the structure showing itself.
How does a field problem enter a responsibility system?
It doesn't — not by itself. A worker says my supervisor is targeting me; a factory can call it a feeling. A jobseeker is told the position is not suitable; a company can call it a mismatch. Left in their original words, these situations can be filed under "misunderstanding" forever. So we translate. Every case is re-placed into five coordinates:
坐标 一The fact chainwhat can be confirmed坐标 二The person's claimwhat they actually want坐标 三The rights baselinewhat the standard says坐标 四The responsibility mapwho must answer坐标 五The external interfacethe language each party receivesA code of conduct is an interface, not an eye. The seeing is done in the field.
The work we turn down
Every programme must answer three questions. Work that cannot answer all three, we do not do — however fundable, visible or convenient it may be. A method is defined as much by what it refuses.
01Does it serve the community's access to remedy?02Does it strengthen local resource networks?03Does it touch the workplace structures that produce the harm? When the field is urgent, speed is substance
Standing tempo · since 2007Handshake Worker's Hotline
A standing channel, open since 2007 — the everyday infrastructure of listening, independent of any single factory or brand.
Emergency tempo · in daysDedicated emergency lines
When a harm spikes — as extreme heat did — the same infrastructure stands up a dedicated line in days: decision, volunteers recruited and trained, intake through social media and partner workplaces, every case carried through to aid and remedy.需数据 #12 #13
A right that arrives after the emergency ends is not a right.
This method is not finished, and it will not be. Sourcing shifts, economies turn, workplace problems grow more tangled — and because we read from the floor, our conclusions keep being corrected by the people they concern.
What stays constant is not the method. It is the starting point: the field. What is the Field-Generated Method?
The Field-Generated Method is Inno Community Development Organisation's way of working: judgement about workplace problems is generated from real cases in the field — starting from a worker's own claim, confirmed as fact, tested against repetition, and translated into responsibility and remedy — rather than designed in advance and applied to the field.
What is a non-judicial grievance mechanism?
A non-judicial grievance mechanism is a channel through which workers can raise problems and reach remedy without going to court. Inno has run one — Handshake Worker's Hotline — inside labour-intensive supply chains since 2007, independent of any single factory or brand.
How does Inno work with brands and factories?
Inno works as an independent third party: it confirms facts from the worker's side, protects identities, and presents patterns rather than persons — then holds factories and buyers to a concrete response, from repayment at case level to redesign at mechanism level.
